Merrill-Stevens announces the November opening of a new office in St. Maarten, which will be headed by Guy Taylor-Smith and Dr. Sally Horsefield.
“As a top destination for mega-yachts in the Caribbean, St. Maarten was the next logical step for an office to provide our clients the best possible services,” said Andrew Cosgreave, President of Merrill-Stevens Yacht Services and Charter management.
The new office, located on the Dutch side of the Caribbean island of St. Maarten, will provide and coordinate the full range of Merrill-Stevens’ services, which include ISM / ISPS, technical assistance, class surveys, crew placement, yacht management, charter management and shipyard project planning. “This Caribbean office will enhance our accessibility to our current clients and open the doors to new customers in one of the most popular yachting regions of the world,” Cosgreave said.
“We are delighted to have Guy Taylor-Smith and Sally Horsefield in place and ready to bring Merrill-Stevens even closer to the Caribbean,” added Cosgreave.
In addition to its Miami River shipyard, Merrill-Stevens currently has a presence in Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, Palma de Mallorca, Mexico City and Singapore. Merrill-Stevens offers complete yacht services, from the full service shipyard and yacht sales to yacht management, retail and wholesale charter, ISM/ISPS and technical management and crew placement.
About Merrill-Stevens
Founded in Jacksonville in 1885, Merrill-Stevens is Florida’s oldest continuously operating corporation and has operated at its present site on the Miami River since 1923. In 2005, the family-owned company was reinvigorated by the new ownership of longtime Miami entrepreneurs Hugh Westbrook and Carole Shields. In concert with Merrill-Stevens’ experienced executive team, Westbrook undertook an assessment of the company’s potential and future and determined that Merrill-Stevens possesses the location, expertise, client base and financial strength to become the leading mega-yacht repair and refit facility in the world. In 2005, Merrill-Stevens expanded its yacht sales division and added yacht management, retail and charter management , ISM / ISPS, technical management and crew placement to its already impressive portfolio.
